02How it works
The flow is deliberately short. Upload the original DXF or DWG (up to 25 MB), choose the language, and get the same format back. The engine classifies prose, applies rules to exclude dimensions, tolerances and codes, and translates with DeepL Pro. Always open and validate the result in CAD before manufacturing.
Drag in a DXF or DWG. We start from the vector file, not a PDF: dimensions remain entities, not text on an image.
One of the six covered targets is chosen: German, English (GB and US), French, Italian or Portuguese. A glossary is configured per organization, as part of what is agreed.
Open the result in SolidWorks, AutoCAD or a DXF viewer and check dimensions, notes and typography before production use.
03Use cases
Any team that ships drawings to a client or shop floor in another language faces the same dilemma: translate by hand (slow, inconsistent) or run the file through a generic translator (fast and destructive). CADlingua is built for those real engineering hand-offs — machining, architecture, building services and electronics — where a wrong dimension is not a typo: it is scrap and shop-floor time. CADlingua classifies descriptive text and applies rules to exclude dimensions, tolerances, symbols and codes. It returns the same format so you can check values, typography and text fit in CAD before manufacturing.
DXF and DWG. The limit measured in production was 25 MB per file. DWG files are converted through ODA for processing and returned as DWG.
Not today. Six targets are covered: German, English (GB and US), French, Italian and Portuguese. DeepL does support Cyrillic, CJK, Greek and Arabic, so extending it is a matter of configuration rather than a different engine. Write to us if you need it.
It can be configured per company with a glossary, proper nouns and code rules. That configuration is enabled per organization; no generic glossary is applied by default.
A generic translator cannot distinguish a note from a dimension. CADlingua classifies entities and applies rules to exclude dimensions, tolerances and codes from translation; validate the result in CAD before manufacturing.
