Common Questions
What is the difference between SRT and VTT formats?
SRT (SubRip) is the most widely supported format, compatible with virtually all video editors and players. VTT (WebVTT) is the web standard used by HTML5 video players and supports additional styling. For YouTube uploads, use SRT. For websites, use VTT.
How accurate are the generated subtitles?
Accuracy depends on audio clarity. Clear speech with minimal background noise achieves 90%+ accuracy. The Whisper model handles accents well but may need manual corrections for heavy noise, overlapping speakers, or technical terminology.
Can I edit the subtitles after generation?
Currently, subtitles cannot be edited directly in the tool. Download the SRT or VTT file and edit it in any text editor—the format is human-readable. You can adjust timing and text as needed.
Why is the first generation slow?
The first use downloads the Whisper Tiny AI model (~150MB). This is cached by your browser for future use. Subsequent generations start much faster. Longer media files also require more processing time.
What languages are supported for subtitle generation?
English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian are currently supported. The AI automatically transcribes speech in the selected language.
