What is PDF to Word?
PDF to Word is a free browser-based tool that extracts text from PDF files and creates editable Word documents (.docx). Using PDF.js for extraction and the docx library for document creation, it runs entirely in your browser without uploading files to any server.
Ideal for editing text from contracts, reports, academic papers, or any text-based PDF.
How does PDF to Word work?

- 03 Wait for the text to be extracted from all pages
- 04 Preview the extracted text in the result area

Why use a browser-based tool?
- Privacy first: PDF never leaves your device—no server uploads

- Offline capable: Works without internet after page loads
Common Questions
Will the conversion preserve my PDF layout exactly?
This tool focuses on text extraction, not layout replication. Complex layouts with columns, tables, or images may not convert perfectly. For text-heavy documents, results are typically excellent.
Can this convert scanned PDFs (images)?
No. Scanned PDFs contain images of text, not actual text. Use our OCR Text Extractor tool first to convert images to text, then paste into a Word document.
What about password-protected PDFs?
Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. You'll need to remove the password protection first using the original password.
Are images extracted from the PDF?
Currently, only text is extracted. Images, charts, and graphics are not included in the Word output. This may be added in future updates.
Why is some text missing or garbled?
Some PDFs use custom fonts or encoding that PDF.js cannot interpret correctly. This is most common with PDFs created from unusual software or with embedded fonts.
