What is Image Resize?
An image resizer changes the dimensions (width and height) of an image file. This tool uses the browser's Canvas API to resize images with high quality. You can maintain the original aspect ratio for proportional scaling, or unlock it to set custom dimensions for any use case.
Resizing images is essential for web optimization, social media posts, email attachments, and printing. Different platforms have different size requirements - Instagram prefers 1080x1080 for posts, while YouTube thumbnails are 1280x720.

Common Questions
Can I maintain the aspect ratio when resizing?
Yes, by default the aspect ratio lock is enabled. When you change width, height automatically adjusts proportionally. Click the lock icon to unlock and set custom dimensions that don't preserve the original ratio.
What image formats are supported?
Input: JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and most common image formats. Output: Choose between JPEG (smaller file size), PNG (lossless, supports transparency), or WebP (modern format with excellent compression).
What are the preset sizes for?
Presets provide one-click resizing to common social media and platform dimensions: Instagram Post (1080x1080), Instagram Story (1080x1920), Twitter Post (1200x675), Facebook Cover (820x312), YouTube Thumbnail (1280x720), and LinkedIn Banner (1584x396).
Will resizing reduce image quality?
Resizing down (making images smaller) preserves quality well. Resizing up (enlarging) may reduce sharpness. For JPEG/WebP, adjust the quality slider - 90% is recommended for minimal quality loss. PNG is lossless but creates larger files.
Is there a file size limit?
No hard limit imposed by the tool. Very large images (50MB+) may be slower to process depending on your device. All processing happens in browser memory, so available RAM is the only constraint.
Can I resize multiple images at once?
Currently, this tool processes one image at a time. For batch resizing, process each image individually. Each resize is instant, so multiple images can be processed quickly.
